I took a walk today. I stopped at a café I’d been to before, ordered my usual petit crème and watched the barman torch a crème brulée. Then I picked up my customary sarrasin demi baguette from my favourite bakery and took the same route home.
Predictable? Routine? Safe?
It got me thinking. Am I so stuck in my ways that I’ve become a bore? Do I cling to the way I do things so much that I miss the big picture? And is this particularly apparent with Frenchmen due to their laissez-faire attitude?
Maybe I should take my glasses off and just let things happen for once. Maybe I’ll take a different walk next time, take streets I’ve never gone down before, not keep track of the way I came, hell, I might even get lost!
It’s not in my nature, but I’ll do it.
Baby steps, right?
